Wapping L2 V East London L2
Local derby day....
Saturday saw Wapping ladies 2s play local rivals East London. As this would be a fight for local territory, supporters were in the plenty from the ladies 1s and the Royals ladies (Thank-you!). Rumour has it some came in the hope they would see the crazy Wapping cats use their special 'sit on the goalies face' goal scoring tactic.
After Jess made an essential Art Attack sock purchase and Coach Musto gave his inspiring team talk without the usual inspired Art Attack W! Wapping ladies were feline ready to pounce.
East came out strong and slotted 3 goals (before half time-eeek!) past Mooch Perkins who was more kitten than tiger at this point (we all wonder why ?!) I can’t really remember the first half but I know we used the sides of the pitch and were saved a few times by our feisty ally catted defenders, special mention to the claws of Ruth, Georgia, Alice and Siobhan.
At half time some of us were kibbled but a saucer of milk and a tip from Coach Musto to treat the East girls like mice got us hungry for goals! Something about pressing like a clowder and being first to the ball was also mentioned. The milk worked as Wapping came out with claws and teeth, pressing like a clutter. With the speed of the midfield a goal was on the cards, special mention to the Chartreux: Pasc, Sippy, Ellie and Nat.
The forward line used their catty reflexes and hit their top cat speed of 29.8 mph, special mention to Lou, Fran, Jess and Zara.
The Wapping cats scored three crafty goals from Jess, Siobhan and we think Zara but could have been Lou. The East goalkeeper broke a very simple rule of kicking the ball outside of the circle but apparently the glare meant she couldn’t see…Meow!...Catty!
30 seconds before the whistle the sly East London crew scored a final goal which ended in 4-3 to East. Watch out next time East London these wild cats have 9 lives!
Mom: Sippy for her cat like speed and reflexes!
Dod: Jess for the art attack socks!
