Mamma mia! Babs forgets the shirts
By the best DoD, Babs
The mighty threes this week played at home, the stadium pitch at Lee Valley, prime spot and prime time. That's right, finally people realised how amazing and entertaining our champagne hockey is, how perfect our short corners routines are, and frankly how sexy we look on and off the pitch.
Holly "the idol" Krelle was in charge of the warm up but unfortunately I cannot say much about that as I was busy driving back and forth through east London - and captain Roche's inspiring speech probably involved a big dose of professionalism and well... communication... what more can I say about that?
We wowed the spectators by getting our kit off and putting our shirts on with 7 WHOLE minutes to spare thanks to Babs' excellent driving skills and keeping her cool despite hitting every single red light between East Ham and LV. Her parking skills were less impressive and was approached after the game by Jordan from the ladies ones who apparently hadn't been able to take her car out of the car park as the Beast was a bit too close to hers (I was in a rush!!!)
Anyway enough of this and let's focus on the game. We started strong and moved the ball around impressively and very soon won a short corner which was beautifully slotted in on the rebound by Holtie. The backs and midfielders worked hard to build play and get the ball up to the attack who timed their runs beautifully and caused problems to the oppo's defence. The second goal came not long after the first with another short corner rebound being calmly flicked into the net by... wait for it... Sandra!! - who celebrated her 85th birthday in style, scoring her second goal of the season and goodness knows when we'll hear the end of this....
Half time came and went with more pearls of wisdom from captain Roche who reminded us to continue being professional. They were mainly directed at princess Holly Marvs who got herself carded whilst practising her royal wave. As we started the second half, we created space and moved the ball up using great triangulations - except for idol Krelle and Bucket Throat who preferred playing the ball just to each other as a sign of great reciprocal admiration - apparently BT was super excited that her idol Krelle accepted her friendship request on Facebook.
Despite amazing play in the second half and a few more narrowly missed chances, the final whistle blew at 2-0. Another well deserved victory for a team that is gaining in strength, in banter and probably in kilograms as well thanks to Issy's lovely cake from a packet... thank you as well to assistant coaches Krus and Lou who stepped in whilst our lovely coach Monger was busy saving pocket money for the next boat race.
MoM was a tie between Issy and birthday senior citizen and DoD ... well you may have guessed from the quality of the match report ... Babs who will definitely be looking to file a lawsuit for discrimination.....
Pint off was won by Issy who had clearly been taking lessons from Bucket Throat.
Henny forgot to pick up the shirts.... just so you know who to DoD next week.
