L3 go into Christmas top of the league
Finishing with another excellent report from The Phoenix
Dear Father Christmas,
Here I am again, like every year writing to you and hoping this letter reaches you in time.
First of all I wanted to thank you for last year's present as all my wishes came true. I asked to become the captain of an amazing team, and here I am, half way through the season reflecting on how awesome the ladies 3s are. I mean I couldn't have asked for a more committed, high performing, and most of all talented bunch of professionals. And if todays's game is anything to go by I know we could be finding ourselves celebrating something big at the end of the season.
It seems to me that today's game was the example of all I asked for in last year's letter: we moved the ball fluidly and were not afraid to move it around and back with patience and poise. Our heads could have definitely gone down when the oppo equalised but instead we showed resilience and grit and we scored with only a handful of minutes to go. Both Holtie's and BJ's goals were beautiful and again, the culmination of fantastic teamwork. I love my team my dear Santa, and it's you I have to thank for this gift in my life.
But of course the time has come for me to ask for this year's gift so here we go:
For Sandra I really would love her to have a more up to date tuby grip as the one she currently has is a World War Two relic and doesn't hold much. I think because of this her injury forced her to leave the battle literally three minutes in the first half, although fortunately she continued delivering specific directions and support from the sidelines.
Also on the sidelines today was Gandalf, Santa could you please give her a new leg? We need her magic at the back.
Vicky made amazing saves today all she needs now is a voice that could be heard across London - a bit like my one.
The idol and Becky worked tirelessly to keep us out of trouble at the back and I ask you to keep them injury free till at least April, I know Krelle in particular is quite prone to self injury (or injury caused by and to fellow team mates... !)
As for Shalls and Rach, well they were amazing distributors today, they worked so hard in the middle but Santa, they have a lot of inner rage, it is difficult for them to keep control; Shalls towards her own team and Rach towards the oppo, so I ask for self control for these two.
For Solley and Allison I ask that if they were to play against us in the derby match they temporarily lose their powers as they played amazingly for us.
And what can I say about my front line of inners and forwards? Well they are simply amazing, working tirelessly to create and put away chances - despite a couple of undeserved green cards they showed professionalism and selflessness but also they've shown they can be clinical in front of goal. If I could ask for something else is a bit more enthusiasm after they've scored: I would love to see better goal celebrations, more dramatic and heartfelt... they just need to open up and show their emotions.
For Henny and BT to stop missing games and for Wardy to join us more often.
Santa last year I also asked for a coach that would be inspirational and dedicated ...well this year I ask for a pair of gloves with fingers for him...
And as for me, well you know I never think of myself, I'm selfless and kind and generous ... but also you know I have a knack with words, I am desperate to show my team how witty I can be but I have not really had the opportunity this season. I ask for the gift of being DOD MORE OFTEN so that I can write amazing match reports.
Big love to you and the elves
