JLL sponsor City and Wharf Hockey League

1 year ago By Stuart Burnside

In a landmark title sponsorship deal, the major London corporate hockey league rebrands.

The JLL City and Wharf Hockey League (JLL CAWHL) is the largest corporate summer hockey league in the capital, reaching an estimated 1000 players across the squads for 24 league teams drawn from a range of blue chip employers. Mixed 11aside matches are played three to five times a week for four months to decide the league champions before an exciting 6aside tournament to contest the cup.

JLL CAWHL is operated by Wapping Hockey Club alongside a free "Back to Hockey" programme aimed at beginners, meaning the participant companies have something to offer for everyone. Two phases allow the league to stream into several tiers, offering a truly inclusive environment for everyone. This means despite the intense competition that can ensue, participants encompass national league and international players through to beginners. Then a party atmosphere ensues with the 6aside tournament evening on 4 August. Spectators are very welcome at the John Orwell Centre, in the heart of Wapping.

JLL CAWHL President Stuart Burnside commented: “JLL is synonymous with high quality property consultancy, and the residential sales and lettings offering from their City, Canary Wharf and Stratford offices maps perfectly against the needs of our league participants. We are delighted to welcome them as title sponsor as part of a wider arrangement with Wapping Hockey Club for the upcoming season.”

Charlotte Malone, Director at JLL, comments: “As well as sitting between our Canary Wharf and City offices, Wapping Hockey Club plays its games at the National Stadium at Olympic Park, just a short distance from our new office in Stratford, linking well to JLL’s strong position in the City and East residential market. JLL prides itself on developing enduring relationships both as a trusted adviser, and in the local community. As the club relies on sponsorship to help keep membership prices low, we’re pleased that our contribution can help sustain this and ensure that it is accessible to a wide range of people. We are delighted to be supporting one of the most dynamic brands in English hockey, and look forward to watching them in the National League.”

Notes to editors:
JLL’s UK residential team comprises over 300 professionals operating from a network of regional offices. Specialising in all areas of local, national, and international property, JLL is the most comprehensive full service residential advisor in the market. The business offers a complete ‘end-to-end’ service, from estate agency services, to finding the right property or buyer, through to consultancy advice to overcome planning issues and enable development.

The JLL CAWHL is owned and operated by Wapping HC, a national league hockey club based at the John Orwell Centre in Wapping and at the national stadium, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, in the Olympic Park. With JLL’s support, the club offers year round training for both adult and primary age children, from beginners to international grade.
