Join Wapping HC, now a National League club!

1 year ago By Stuart Burnside

Exciting times! Join us!

Wapping HC is open to new members all year round. We accept players of all levels. We'll teach you if you've never picked up a stick before, but if you're a skilly mcbilly, you'll probably like to know our M1 have just been promoted to the National League as Champions of East Premier A with a game to spare, and our L1 are returning to East Prem as runaway Champions of East Div 1. We have two water bases and a sand dressed pitch, and could claim to have some of the best facilities in the country. We've certainly got the most spectator seating! As for socials, well, we have our own beer, need we say more?

Have a look at some press: Guardian

We are also the most convenient club for anyone working in the City or Canary Wharf. LVHTC is under 30 min from Bank by tube (via Leyton) and Stratford is just 12 min from Canary Wharf. The John Orwell Centre is a short walk from the City but you can hop the 100 bus and similarly it's served by the D3 direct from Canary Wharf.

To join, simply email our membership secretary. The join button on the website above helps with getting website mails, but to join the club, please send a note to the gmail account. We are genuinely a different club from any other you'll encounter. We are exclusively O18, which allows for the raucous environment we like. With 17 Saturday sides and something like 350 fun loving adults enjoying their hockey, we make a strong shout to be one of the most sociable hockey clubs you'll come across...yet with a high standard of hockey too. That's a strength in depth right across the club - we won 9 league titles in the 2015/16 season, and 10 teams were promoted.

We will shortly publish information about our summer programme, but you can expect us to be hosting the mixed City and Wharf Summer League, participating in various single gender leagues and be running a chilled out back to hockey programme suitable for beginners and the rusty.

We also have a satellite club, Wapping Kidds HC, which uses some of our facilities to provide hockey for children aged 7-11, and a disability inclusive satellite Wapping Flyerz, which provides more tailored hockey for those that need it. Both clubs draw their coaches from the pool at Wapping HC.

Follow the freshest Wapping action on twitter @WappingHC or on facebook.

I look forward to welcoming you to Wapping soon.
