Wapping M9 v Colchester M3 (a)

"Ode to Juggers" by Andy 'Juggers' Gill

The M9 had a long way to travel,
They had no idea how the game would unravel,
They turned up at the pitch,
The weather was a b*tch,
And the mood was a little bit sour.

The whistle was blown,
And whenever the ball got to Whelan it was thrown,
It was a very tight game,
And the young opposition put Nathan to shame,

As the first half progressed,
M9 came into their best,
Jacometti had a cracker,
Next to Morgs who was a slacker,

We had plenty of chances,
But our high line gave the oppo some glances,
Iain “Inchy” Davidson was a big help in the central,
Although his backchat drove the umpire mental,

There were chances to score,
But we needed to do a bit more,
Willy D was blowing out of his ass,
And we just couldn’t find that final pass,

As the first half whistle was blown,
Juggers’ injury was causing him to groan,
Whilst the half time talk was poor,
I didn’t think we needed to do much more,

The second half was to be tense,
As Colchester tested our defence,
They had a series of 5 consecutive shorts,
As M9 looked in trouble of all sorts,

At that point we would have taken a draw,
But Jonny’s constant running warranted more,
As Rich broke free of their defence,
His decision making was a border-line criminal offence,

MC had a great half,
And cleaned up everything in his path,
We were getting more opportunities,
And pressing relentlessly (there’s nothing in this world that rhymes with opportunities),

As the ball broke free in their D,
It was very scrappy,
Newman was there to put the ball in the net,
And the cheering beset,

Colchester were then in all-out attack,
Whilst we tried to keep it away from the back,
We were playing for possession,
And could almost smell the session,

Whilst we were in control,
A chance presented at goal,
Keano’s stick skills were immense,
As he dribbled through their defence,

He put it away,
It was 2-0, hooray,
The final whistle went,
Into hysteria we were sent,

MOM and DOD both went to Rich,
But he was being a little b*tch,
He said he’ll do his pints “next week”,
But he’ll probably be out in Chelsea with his friends.

Juggers was the best player,
The end.
