M7 0 - 0 East London 5s
Once again, the Inglorious endured a frustrating Saturday afternoon in front of goal as they were held to a draw by East London at LV.
The Inglorious endured a frustrating Saturday afternoon in front of goal as they were held to a draw by East London at LV.
Goalkeeper/Manager Craig Neilsen once again saw his side dominate possession and create chances, but after 2 straight games without a win, they seemed gunshy in front of goal and failed to capitalise on their chances. The visitors also didn't score and held their hosts to a draw.
Wapping were dominant in the first half with Dan Lou not giving them the lead with a superb 15-yard daisy-cutter which went just past the left post. They could not find a way through for a goal and the game was far more open, and even, in the second half.
It was a frustrating story at Lee Valley, with Burch, Charlesworth, Lou, Griffo and CANNONBALL creating chances and PC's, but the team not being able to bag the crucial goal.
In midfield, Bateman, Peeler, Julio and Hamza ( ;) ) worked their variously-lengthy legs into the ground.
A crunching block by a defender inside the D was deemed to have been attempted assassination, and a PF was awarded. Mercifully for the Inglorious, it was overturned on review after the 7s captain Barton bored both the umpires to tears with various possible interpretations of the laws of the game.
Sadly neither team was able to take the lead, despite a sustained period of pressure in which Gilo, Cannonball, Max and TGS were all held at bay.
On balance a draw may not have seemed a deeply unfair result as both teams had chances, despite Wapping dominating overall.
Neilson's side are, however, now without a win in 3 games in all competitions and are about 5th in a tightly packed Div 4SE.
Mercifully, Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtra Trojan and his piece are both available, so the Inglorious will again have 2 club members in goal.
