The ladies 1s played Wisbech Town this Saturday as they returned back on their home turf at Lee Valley for the first time in 2017. Wapping started the game attacking fiercely with many circle entries and shots on goal in the opening 15 minutes of the game but sadly none resulted in goals. Against the run of play Wisbech seemed to have a change in strategy and found themselves in the Wapping D which caught the home side off guard, they picked up a penalty flick and scored it. 1-0 half time.
After an energetic half time team talk from Mesh Wapping again started the half applying lots of pressure up front and their efforts paid off when Jordan Mulvaney found the back of the net with a deflection in the circle 1-1. Wisbech then attached hard putting the strong Wapping defence under a lot of pressure which resulted in a succession of corners which they managed to convert into 2 goals in quick succession. Wapping had work to do as they we're now trailing 3-1. This gave them the push they needed to get back into the game and soon enough Kate O'Sullivan set up Belinda Armstrong for a lovely finish bringing Wapping back into the game at 3-2 with 10 minutes to go. Wapping worked hard all the way through the pitch and gained several short corners which were saved or went wide of the goal. Finally with 2 minutes to spare Aisling McKeon slotted to ball away on a short corner routine to level them 3-3. A solid comeback from the Wapping ladies but not the 3 points they were hoping for.
