Wapping v St. Albans March 20th
Wapping ladies 1s made the long, cold journey to St Albans for a post work Tuesday game for their final re-arranged fixture of the season.
The away side made a promising start with an aggressive press which left St Albans struggling to get themselves out of trouble at the back.
Wapping played some superb, calm, connecting passages of play from the back line through Dannie Jones and Aisling McKeon in the middle and onto the forwards creating several promising breaks and circle entries from Katelynn Roganowicz and Jordan Mulvaney. But alas they could not quite convert to goals. Half time 0-0.
Wapping went out strong from an inspiring half time team from Coach Mesh, and looked on top of the game when St Albans made a quick breakaway, luckily Hannah Gage and Becky Hart stepped up keep them out.
St Albans piled the pressure on and managed to get a series of corners which 1st runner Lucy Todd and post player Bee Armstrong kept at bay. Then St Albans played a flat ball to the back post which got deflected nicely into the top left corner passed Vicky Salt, 1-0.
Wapping were not deterred by this and keep pushing all the way to the end of the game looking to put the ball away, but couldn’t quite convert.
A really impressive team performance to end the season just not quite enough for the points today, but well fought!
