Wapping 2's V Letchworth 1's
2 from 2 for the 2's!
Wapping 4 - Letchworth 0
MoM - Ellie Carr
DoD - Rachel Haseloff
Goals Rachel Haseloff, Kate Silbermann and Natasha Close x2
From the off Wapping ladies 2's looked strong. There was notable improvement from the week before with Alice Gage working well as a pivot in centre midfield, seemlessly linking the ball between left and right inners, Ellie Carr and Nat Stewart.
Throughout the first half there was an abundance of beautiful attacking play with Lou Song applying pressure on the Letchworth keeper, narrowly missing some great deflections. Determination from the forwards was rewarded with multiple short corners which led to three goals from Wapping, scored by Rachel Hoff, Kate Silberman and Tash Close.
Towards the latter part of the first half the midfield increased their outletting to the defense which stretched play allowing for fluid movement of the ball around the attacking '25.
After a stirring half time talk from Coach Musto, Wapping began the second half with strong offensive play. There was a show of great individual skills from Kate Silberman, who carried the ball into the attacking D several times and Martha Jenkinson whose silky skills up the right hand side of the pitch baffled the opposition. Captain Hoff showed the team how it was done by taking the ball straight into the D, allowing for a short corner, which Tash put into the back of the net.
However, despite what the score line might suggest, the match was not a one-sided affair. The back four cut out several dangerous attacks from Letchwork, with Georgia Stevens and Ruth (insert second name) working well together to cut out any leads from the opposition.
The final resut was 4-0 to Wapping, resulting in a happy team and a very happy Coach Musto. High fives all round.
