Derby Day

BJ forgot the DOD hat. Again.

Determined to build on the good performance from the week before, which unfortunately, ended in defeat, skipper Roche gave an inspirational team talk and the 3s went out determined to prove their place.

The 3’s opened the scoring 10 minutes into the first half when solid work from the midfield, Dudley, Henny and Bella, managed to work the ball into the 4s D with attacking player Holtie getting a deflection into the goal.

The 4s retaliated and the 3s backline defence, Sandy, Rach, Roche and Becky were tested. The 4s attacking players pressed the defence and Sandy ended up passing the ball to their Centre Forward, GK Vicky made a great save but unfortunately it wasn’t enough and the 4s scored, 1-1.

The 3s kept a cool head and put the pressure back onto the 4s. Some great work from Zoe saw her take the ball up the pitch and smash it into the 4s D, the ball was rebounded from the keeper, but Issy was there to ensure the ball found the back of the net!

Half time: 1-2

The second half started strongly, with the forwards Sophie, Wardy and Princess Holly Marven pressing the 4s into their D straight from the PB. Some great switching across the back from Rach and Becky saw a space open up for the forwards BJ and Issy to take the ball into the D, a strong strike from Issy saw the ball heading for goal, but BJ stole the goal with a cheeky tap in.

The 3s kept the pressure on and was awarded with a short corner. A great strike from Wardy saw the ball stopped on the line by a 4s foot, penalty flick!!! Up came Sandy, cool, calm and collected saw a great flick into the top left corner, 1-4.

The goals kept coming and some great play from Roche at the back saw some space open up down the right side of the pitch for BJ to run the baaaaaaaase line and pass to Sophie waiting on the P spot to smash it pass the GK.

More great work from the defence and midfield allowed the attackers to take another chance on goal, with Sophie using her skills to beat the defence and cheekily score.

Final score =: 1-6.
