L3 keep up pace on title race with 4-0 win

The "Phoenix" lets the rest of the team get in on the goals this week

Bonjour tout le monde,

Je m’appelle Holly, j’ai une soeur et j’habite a Londres, et aujourd'hui je vais écrire sur l’excellent victoire des femmes troisiemes contre Upminster.

… enough of that.

L3s were playing Upminster at home this week. Buoyed by their 4-2 victory last week and delighted that Babs ‘the Phoenix’ LoG had graced us with her presence, we were feeling pretty confident. So much so we decided we didn’t need balls, masks, bibs, or even Holtie.

We started well - the mids, Dudley, Bella, Rach and Henny transferring the ball around with customary ease, and even putting into practice some of the short play Monger taught us at training - we do listen sometimes. The first goal came quickly, someone drove the baaasseeeline (I think) and BJ slotted the ball into the roof of the net. The forwards - Phoenix, Marvs, Ruadhan and BJ kept exploiting the space, with the pressure soon leading to a second goal. Marvs took a straight strike from the short, the oppo defence then played the ball amongst themselves for a little while before eventually slotting it in for an own goal.

Wapping were on top, the defence - Cerys, Sandrina, Roche, Dutchie, Becky and Krelle mostly calm and unbothered, other than when Krelle felt things were getting boring and added a little peril to the situation by giving away shorts or playing alarming balls. You’re welcome. Two more goals were scored at some point in the first or second half by Bella (I can’t remember how) and Babs (a tap in I assume). Final score, 4-0 to Wapping who cement their 2nd place in the table - just two behind leaders Southend.

I believe there was a night out afterwards where people ate pizza in the classic elegant L3 way and Henny got hit in the face with some shoes. I wouldn’t know, I was at an orchestral event.

MOM - BJ, exemplary baasssline running

DOD - Krelle, misunderstanding Roche when she shouted ‘safety’ and instead firing the ball into her knee.
