A great day for the Ladies 3 vs Crostyx after not playing to our full potential against Upminster in the prior week.
The first half was a great display of teamwork and commitment with strong linking play from the back to the front. The defensive unit looked solid, transferring the ball effectively and working well to cover one another under the pressure from some speedy and skilful Crostyx players. A number of great saves from Vicky Salt kept the Crostyx attackers at bay.

The midfield worked tirelessly to deliver quick and accurate passes to the attackers who worked with tenacity and speed to hassle the Crostyx defenders at every opportunity.
Such pressure led to the first goal from Liv Cerio, who working with Harri Simmons-Mason, took full advantage of a stray ball from the Crostyx defence to drive into the D for a two on one goal. A further goal from Liv Cerio and one from Sacha Cooper took the L3 into half time 3-0 up.
A strong and composed second half performance did not yield any further goals but did contain some great hockey and encouraging play across the team. However it did unfortunately contain a green card as Rachel Byrne lost her composure and did not retreat 5 yards before tackling a Crostyx player awarded a free hit.
The game finished at 3-0 and was arguably one of the best team performances of the season to date, with many of the team getting MOM nominations.
Eventual MOM winner was Liv Cerio for her ‘dog on amphetamines’ performance up front and DOD for Rachel “the Rage” Byrne for her green card.
The traditional pint off for MOM & DOD was in the words of Captain Roche ‘shameful’. To provide some context Ellie could have downed 20 pints (at 8 secs a go) in the time these two took for one.
Thanks to Chris for coming along to coach – much appreciated
