Sat 7 Oct: Wapping L4s away vs Basildon 2s
A close draw for the Ladies 4s against Basildon
After an early morning drive into the depths of Essex, we arrived at Basildon raring to go.
Ruadhan led an intimidatingly well-choreographed warm up, we had an inspiring pre-match chat from Hattie, made sense of the subs rota spreadsheet and we were off.
After a scrappy first 10 minutes, we got into it and played an excellent half. The short corners were flowing and finally we converted one to make it 1-0 by sending it to the left post where injector Hattie pinged it in. The first half was full of good play especially from Ernie who put in a killer performance up front with only two mins rest the whole half.
At half time jelly babies were eaten and rousing speeches were made. We may have taken the instruction to imagine we were 1-0 down a bit to heart, and looked a bit defeated at the start of the second half. We conceded a goal but soon fought back with strong play in midfield from Beeks and Shandy as well as cracking running up front from Sophie B. Again we won a short and managed to put it away with a right slip to Sophie H. Unbelievably, Basildon soon fought back and got a goal with a lucky break two mins later to get them the draw.
Mom was Ruadhan for some incredible distribution and hard work as sweeper.
Dod was Sophie H for wearing a see-through skirt. I've learnt my internet shopping lesson.
