Ladies 6's - Ladies 7's
There was a sense of trepidation as the sun came up on East London this weekend, not only was it derby day for the L6/L7, there were 3 other derby's going on for the club across the weekend.
For L6/L7, it has been a tough couple of weeks with lower than average availability and higher than average number of injuries (Note to self: don't play inter club friendly the week before the season starts!), but thankfully we got both teams out...with the L6's losing their captain to the oppo to play in goal!
L6's saw the early break through with Amy (Original) and slotted one past our captain, but the L7's came back fighting and got one in. At half time we were 2-1 up, and after a solid team talk, plenty of oranges and jelly babies we were out feeling positive again. Dr Bea's hangover didn't stop her showing us some great defensive skills and the newly joined Winkle (Amy) showed her class in some speedy runs up the wing and through midfield, giving Amy (Original) a chance to score another with a further 2 goals from Ali and newbie Marieke, taking the score to 5-1!
Good to see so many people watching, so thanks for the support everyone! Also good to see a welcome return to JO for Jill, sadly still injured but getting involved through coaching and supporting at the sideline.
As both teams are in the same league and relatively close we done a joint MOM and DOD, with Amy (original) getting MOM and Gigi Barbuto getting DOD.
Talk then turned to the social, with Sinead hosting pre-drinks it was inevitable someone would be sick outside the Neighbourhood before going in. However, they carried on. Strong effort on and off the pitch this weekend girls.
